WAVE RIDER PHOENIX
As part of the celebrations of the 20 years of the Mizuno Wave Rider I, Highsnobiety has partnered with Mizuno to offer us a collaboration under the banner of rebirth.
Ready to spread its wings and revive a cult model of the 90s, the Highsnobiety team wanted to draw inspiration from a legendary bird endowed with a long life, having the characteristic to be reborn from the ashes: the Phoenix. In order to realize this project, Highsnobiety appealed to the designer and founder of Solebox Mr Hikmet Sugoer.
This Wave Rider has been designed with premium materials. The upper consists of military nylon mesh, nubuck, suede and full grain leather. The colors used range from bright red to different shades of grey through discrete touches of pastel blue. The bright red Runbird logo surrounded by grey elements accentuates the sensation of a phoenix rising from the ashes.
We also see many subtile details that makes the pair looking very good. You can see a reflective lace guard, leather lace loops, the Highsnobiety logo on the buttress, tongue and insole. The set is based on a white EVA midsole on which we find the mythical Wave technology.
